Full name: Clarissa Carmel Woodward Cady Lafayette.

My Great Great Grandmother Clara was the daughter of French-Canadians Charles Carmel dit Levasseur and Teresa Campau of Monroe, Michigan.

She married my GG Grandfather Edw. G. Woodward in Frenchtown, Monroe County, Michigan on 9 May 1864. She was 16 years old.

Her children with Edw. Woodward were Charles William, Lillian Rose, Edward George, Clara, Clarence, and Alice Elizabeth. Her husband, Edw. Woodward, died 14 April 1875 in Monroe County.

Clara then married Simon Cady/Cada, 19 October 1878, in Saginaw, Michigan and the family moved to Wayne County, where they had a daughter named Mabel in 1880. Clara's children with first husband, Edward (Charles, Edward, and Alice) also lived with them.

Simon died 20 July 1889, probably in Wayne County, near Grosse Ile. His burial location is not yet known. According to the Saginaw News, on September 16, 1898, Miss Mabel Cady of Detroit visited her mother Clara in Saginaw.

Clara married her third husband, Daniel Dominic Lafayette, 7 January 1890 in Saginaw. It's possible she knew Daniel from familial ties to Grosse Ile.

In the 1900 Saginaw census, she said she was the mother of nine (9) children, Five were living at that time. Her death certificate, filled out by a Saginaw undertaker, says she had 6 children, 4 living, in 1903.

Clara's known children:
Charles William Woodward
Lillian Rose Woodward
