Charley Godwin Died Tragically of Injuries Received in Accident:
The tragic death of Charley Godwin, youngest son of Mrs. E. L. Godwin of this city, which occurred last night, as a result of injuries received in the accident at the municipal power house, has cast a gloom over the entire city and county. In perfect health and strength, busy at his work and with hope and ambitions bright before him, Charley Godwin went to his duties on Wednesday morning, and today, he is no more. Truly, "in the midst of life we are in death." Friends of the family would bring comfort to the broken hearts if it were possible, but in times of such grief and sadness, only the Great Comforter can heal the wounded spirits, and give "beauty for ashes."
Charley Godwin was born in Bryan, Texas, November 9th, 1899, and had lived here all his life. A noble son, his aged mother was his first thought, and to her he was indeed loving and thoughtful. Besides his mother, he is survived by one brother, James Godwin, and three sisters, Mrs. Eula Miller, Mrs. M. A. Robertson and Mrs. W. M. Smith, all of Bryan. The funeral will be held at the family home on north Bryan Street Friday morning at 10 o'clock, Dr. John A. Held, pastor of the First Baptist church, conducting the services. Interment will be made at the Bryan cemetery, with McCulloch-Gerdon, funeral directors, in charge.

Resolution Of Respect:
The Board of City Commissioners and the employees of the City wish to express their sympathy to the bereaved family and friends of Chas. Godwin.
He served the City for three years faithfully, during which time we learned to value him both as a man and employee. He was diligent, faithful, everready and willing in the discharge of his duty. A man of few words but with kindliness that endeared him to all those he came in contact with.
The best that can be said of any man can be said of Charlie. He performed his work in life to the best of his ability - faithful, honest and diligent.
The City and its citizens will miss him and those with whom he worked will feel his loss keenly.
To his family we extend our heartfelt sympathy, and tell that we mourn with them, and we are ready in anyway that we can to help sooth their sorrow. We realize that a faithful son, brother, friend, employee and citizen has gone to his reward.
