She married Robert Lewis before 1823 at Virginia, USA. 1st marriage for Frances. She married George Benskin Poindexter 18 September 1834 at "Thornhill", Lexington, Rockbridge Co, Virginia, United States. Frances died November 1889 at Lexington, Virginia, USA, at age at an unknown age . Her body was interred November 1889 at old Lexington Cemetery, Virginia, USA. In the Poindexter lot. Also called the Stonewall Jackson Memorial Cemetery..

Frances was one of three daughters of Captain John BOWYER 1767-1851 of "Thornhill". His father Captain Michael BOWYER was very active on behalf of the colonies during the American Revolution. "Thornhill" has been declared a National Landmark. Her mother was Elizabeth HUBARD 1779-1857. Information submitted by Nancy Tolley.

Miles letter dated January 1946 states grandmother Frances widow of Robert Lewis, -"owned and lived at Malvern Hill, where the great battle was fought near Richmond. He had given it up shortly before the war, but house was designated as the "Poindexter house" in maps and detailed accounts of that battle." Earlier letter states "she was young widow of Fielding Lewis" One child by the marriage Fielding Henry Lewis. Robert Lewis was a brother of Meriwether Lewis.

JAT research suggests that St. Peter's Parish named by Poindexters in honor of St Peter's Parish, Jersey. As of before 1823,her married name was Lewis. As of 18 September 1834,her married name was Poindexter. Frances was present at William Bowyer Poindexter's christening 27 November 1835 at "Retreat", Virginia, USA.
