Zena Dillard Barks, 82, a long-time resident of the Klamath Basin and Tulelake, died Sunday in Klamath Falls.

Mrs. Barks was born Marcy 14, 1904, in the Horsefly Mountain area, near Langell Valley.

Her family moved to Missouri in 1907, then back to Klamath Falls in 1929.

In 1922, she was married to Clyde Barks. They lived on the homestead of his parents near Merrill.

Her husband won a homestead in Tulelake in 1931 and they farmed there until building the Clyde Hotel in 1935.

Since suffering a stroke in 1984, she resided at Mountain View Care Center in Klamath Falls.

Mrs. Barks was a 53-year member of the Tulelake American Legion Auxiliary. She also worked on the election board there for more than 30 years.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, William "Bill" and Gladia Barks, Tulelake; daughter and son-in-law, Marxine and Milt Grieser, Redmond, Wash.; grandchildren, Charlotte and Clyde Barks both Klamath Falls; Judy Killeen, Dorris, and Bev Nelson, Barbara McPherson and Betsy Grieser, all of the state of Washington; brother, John Dillard, Monroe,sister, Eva Bowman, Corvalllis; nine great-grandchildren; numerous other relatives and friends.
