Elizabeth was the fourth daughter of John and Elizabeth Stoneham of Southfleet and the sister of Sally, Elizabeth, Charlotte, Jane and William.
She was baptised on 20th August 1769 at St Nicholas Church, Soulthfleet.
When she was twenty years old she married Richard Bannister, also of Southfleet, at St Nicholas Church, Southfleet on 13th November 1797. They had seven children, Lydia, 1798, Lucy, Anne, 1802, Sarah, 1805, Susan, 1805, William, 1807 and Charlotte, 1809.
