May Lee was born September 1, 1868, at Perth, Canada, and departed this life November 2, 1946, at her daughter's home in Hardy, Nebraska, at the age of 78 years, 2 months, 1 day. At the age of two years she was brought to Stafford, Kansas, where she was reared by her grandmother.

May Lee was united in marriage at Lyons, Kansas, February 2, 1886, to Morris Lewis, who passed away August 30, 1940. To this union were born five children: Mabel Specht, who preceded her in death in 1935; Ethel Pecht of Hardy, her twin brother, Earl Lewis of Ruskin; Bessie Pecht of Hardy, and Lexie Noblitt of Long Beach, California. She is survived by thirteen grand children and twelve great grandchildren. One grandson, Earl Lewis, Jr., lost his life in the service of his country in June, 1945, and another, Pat Pecht, is at present serving in Vienna, Austria.

Mr. and Mrs. Lewis moved to Ruskin, Nebr., early in their married life, where they farmed in the community for forty years. Mrs. Lewis was stricken with illness in June 1945. She was brought to Hardy, where she was patiently and faithfully cared for by her daughters, Bessie and Ethel, until her death. Mrs. Lewis endured many hardships in her early life. She has always been a hard working woman whose home was the center of her life and thoughts. She always thought of others. She was a loving mother and neighbor who will be sadly missed by all her family and friends.

Short funeral services were held Wednesday, November 6, at the Hardy Mortuary, after which regular services, conducted by Rev. J.H. Petersen were held in the Ruskin Community Church, with interment in the Ruskin cemetery. Music was furnished by Mrs. Clarence Krogh, Mrs. Mabel Magee, Arnold Hansen and Earl Kleen, with Mrs. C.O. Hull at the piano. Pallbearers were: Ova Schultz, Charles Edwards, O.O. Brink, Erik Torring, Ross Lance and Arthur Noel.
