He reenlisted in company H for 3 years, June 20, 1861 as a Sergeant. Promoted to 1st Sergeant, in June, 1863, he was discharged on a Surgeon's Certificate of Disability, Feb. 15, 1864. He applied for an an invalid soldier's pension, April 15, 1864, which was issued as Certificate #32604. He came from a large farm family in Middlefield, Ohio, was unmarried, and worked as a blacksmith in civilian life. Although he did not die while in the army, his name was inscribed on the monument of the 7th Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry, located in Woodland Cemetery, Cleveland, Ohio.
