Wasyl "Charlie" Sidorenko
Wasyl "Charlie" Sidorenko, age 82, of Columbus and Gahanna, passed away peacefully Friday night, April 1, 2005 at Traditions at Stygler.
Born April 4, 1922 in Ivankov, Ukraine. Immigrated to the United States in 1950 and became a US Citizen in 1957. Retired from General Motors. A long time member of Saint Stevan of Dechani Serbian Orthodox Church.
Preceded in death by wife Maria Sidorenko, son Nicola Sidorenko, and son-in-law John Curtis Darst. He is survived by daughter, Vera Darst; and grandchildren, John and Katrina of Gahanna; son, Walter and wife Rebecca; and grandson, Benjamin of Columbia, TN; son, John and wife Betsy and granddaughter, Anna of Columbus; and son, Peter; and grandson, Josh of Columbus.
The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at Schoedinger Northeast Chapel, 1051 East Johnstown Road, Gahanna. Funeral Service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 5, 2005 at St. Stevan of Dechani Serbian Orthodox Church, 1840 North Cassady Avenue, where family will also receive friends one hour prior to service. Father Isak Kisin, Celebrant. Interment Greenlawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Diabetes Association, to the Arthur G. James Cancer Clinic, or to St. Stevan of Dechani Serbian Orthodox Church in his memory.
