DONNA ARNEY OBITUARY
WOODBURN - Donna Correne Arney of Woodburn died peacefully in her sleep at home December 31, 2004. She was 78. A Celebration of Her Life will be held at 1 p.m., Sat., Jan. 22 at the Mid-Valley Community Church, 591 Gatch Street, Woodburn. Interment was private at Belle Passi Cemetery.

Donna Correne Dean was born to Charles J. and Fannie E. Dean in Portland, Ore. on June 3, 1926 and was a lifelong resident of Woodburn, growing up on the family farm on East Lincoln Road. She attended Woodburn Schools and graduated from Woodburn High School in the class of 1944. She was head timekeeper at Birdseye until her marriage to Roy G. Arney on December 14, 1946. Roy and Donna celebrated 58 years of marriage this year.

Donna began playing the piano at age 3, and played for meetings and social events in Woodburn as a child known as "Little Donna Dean" when remembered in the Woodburn Independent publications. Her gifts and talents were broadcast by KOIN Radio in Portland during several guest appearances as a child. Her ministry of music playing piano and organ for church services began at age 12 at the Woodburn Methodist Church and continued while serving at the Woodburn Christian Church, Pioneer Christian Church, and Woodburn Alliance Church for 60 years. She served as Church Secretary at the Woodburn Christian Church for 9 years. She also played the piano and organ for many weddings and funerals in the local area.

Her partnership with Roy on the family farm west of Woodburn kept her busy, along with the raising of three children, Janet, Marilou, and Ronald.

Donna is survived by her husband Roy; daughters and sons-in-law, Janet and Allen Thiessen of Woodburn and Marilou and Ernie Noffsinger of Eugene; sisters-in-law, Esther Dean of Seattle, Wash. and Martha Thompson of Charbonneau. Also survived by Marilou and Ernie are 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. By marriage Janet to Allen, 8 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild were brought into the family and also survive her, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Donna was preceded in death by her son, Ronald Craig 'Ron' Arney in 1973 and brother, Robert Y. 'Bob' Dean in 1998.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be sent to Belle Passi Cemetery, Building and Beautification Fund, PO Box 955, Woodburn, Oregon, 97071 or Mid-Valley Community Church, PO Box 294, Woodburn, OR 97071. Arrangements by Crown Memorial Center, Milwaukie.
