A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday, May 10, in Zeller Chapel of the Roses for Ralph R. Cook, who died May 7, 1996, at age 79.

Mr. Cook was born March 27, 1917, in Portland. He attended Benson High School. He served in the merchant marine during World War II. He retired from the City of Portland's public works department in 1979.

He married Margaret M. Hildebrand in 1940. She survives along with sons, Raymond R., Kenneth J., and James A., all of Portland, and Robert A. of Scappoose; daughters, Carol A. Owens of Milwaukie, Marilyn H. Rooper of Cannon Beach, Joanne K. Slusher and Janice M. Welch, both of Portland, Patricia J. Cunningham of Olympia, and Kathy L. Azevedo of Albany; 18 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Burial will be in Willamette National Cemetery. Arrangements are by Zeller Chapel of the Roses.
