Funeral services for Mrs. Charles J. (Doris Crochet) Barber, 67, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2008, in St. Lawrence Catholic Church, with Msgr. Ronald Groth officiating.
Burial will be in Bertrand Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Jennings.
Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until 10 p.m. today, Wednesday, and from 8 a.m. until time of services on Thursday.
A rosary, led by Deacon Mike Tramel, will be recited at 7 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel.
Mrs. Barber died at 8:56 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 30, 2007, at her residence.
A lifelong resident of the Jennings area, she was a homemaker. She loved her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren with all her heart. She loved to play bingo. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post No. 3686 and St. Lawrence Catholic Church.
Survivors include her husband, Mr. Charles James Barber of Hathaway; two daughters, Felicia Barber and her husband, Allen Mallett, of Welsh and Regina Barber Deshotel and her husband, Ronald, of Hathaway; one daughter-in-law, Cathy S. Barber of Hathaway; one sister, Margaret Westfall and her husband, Dick, of Baton Rouge; one brother, Edmond Crochet and his wife, Hilda, of Hathaway; eight grandchildren, Sedonia Menard and her husband, Jay, John Barber and his wife, Tig, Heather Barber, Josh Barber, Keisha Deshotel, Amelia Barber and Amanda Deshotel; and three great-grandchildren, Mathew Deshotel, Cole Deshotel and Keigan Menard.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Delus and Sidonia Crochet; one son, Ricky Barber; one granddaughter, Cassie Barber; one sister, Delina Gillard; and two brothers, Ernest and Augustine Crochet.
