WALTER EMMERTON PASSED AWAY SUNDAY - Funeral Services Were held at All Saints Episcopal Church Wednesday Afternoon - Mrs. Rosa Emmerton, one of Nevada's most estimable and highly esteemed residents, wife of Walter Emmerton and mother of Mrs. Forrest Maxwell of this city, died at the home of her daughter, 1123 North Washington street. Mrs. Emmerton had not been well for several years and her condition had been considered serious since the latter part of June. Rosa Schmidt was born April 7, 1858 in Hannibal, one of the five children of George and Fronia Schmidt, who had come to this county from Germany and settled in Missouri. Their daughter Rosa was reared and educated in Hannibal and was married there on January 26, 1882 to Walter Emmerton. Immediately after their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Emmerton went to Dubuque, Ia., to live and in 1911 moved to Nevada to make their home. While living in Ellis, Kas, Mrs. Emmerton became a member of the Episcopal church and later transferred her membership to All Saints Episcopal Church here. She was always an active member of the church and until a few months ago assisted in the church work. Mr. and Mrs. Emmerton celebrated the fiftieth wedding anniversary January 26, 1932, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Maxwell. Mr. Emmerton and their three children, Mrs. Maxwell of Nevada and George of Chicago and Harry S. of Sherman, Tex., survive Mrs. Emmerton. She also leaves three grandchildren, Miss Edith Emmerton of Glendale, Calif., Mrs. J. T. Stratton Brock of Houston, Tex., and Harry Edward Emmerton of Sherman; and one great-grandchild, Stratton Brock, jr. Two brothers, Henry and Andy Schmidt of Hannibal, and three nieces also survive.
