Obituary: NORTHBRIDGE - Muriel T. (Armstrong) Massey, 65, of 225 Sutton St., died yesterday in St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester, after a long illness.
She leaves her husband of 40 years, Ovila G. "Frenchy" Massey; two sons; her mother, Blanche (Landry) Armstrong of Sudbury, Ontario, Canada; four brothers, Roger Armstrong of Chelmsford, Ontario, Canada, Roland Armstrong of Montreal, Quebec, Canada, Claude Armstrong of Colchester, Vt. and Norman Armstrong of Northbridge; four sisters, Sister Jeannine Armstrong of the Sisters of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin, Lauretta Roy and Fernande Houle, all of Sudbury, Ontario, and Lorraine Bindman of Leominster; five grandchildren; a great- granddaughter; aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. She was born in Woonsocket, R.I., daughter of Blanche and Gabriel Armstrong and lived here 48 years.
Mrs. Massey was a graduate of Warren High School, Warren, Ontario and Sudbury Business College, Sudbury, Ontario. She was a licensed notary public and an office manager 20 years at the Gaudette Insurance Agency in Grafton and Northbridge, retiring in 1990. She previously was a stitcher for four years at the former Stacy Lynn Drapery Co., Northbridge. She also was a hat maker for two years at Kartigener Hat Shop in Upton, and a bobbin tender for five years at the former Paul Whitin Manufacturing Co. in Uxbridge.
Mrs. Massey was a member of St. Peter's Church and its Ladies of St. Anne Sodality, and worked for many years on the parish bingo committee. She was a former member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Post 343, and was a former committee member and secretary-treasurer of the Valley Aires Drum and Bugle Corps for many years.
The funeral will be Saturday from Turgeon Funeral Home, 80 School St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Peter's Church, 39 Church St. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Whitinsville. Calling hours at the funeral home are 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. tomorrow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cancer Fund, care of St. Vincent Hospital Development Foundation, 25 Winthrop St., Worcester, 01604; or to the Hospice Program of the Visiting Nurse Association of Greater Milford-Northbridge Area Inc., 1 Emerson St., Mendon, 01756.
