Eugene Widican, 80, passed away Friday, January 8, 2010 at the Cleveland Clinic.

Gene was born October 14, 1929 to Dan and Eva (Popa) Widican in Akron and had been an area resident his entire life. He was employed by Firestone Tire and Rubber as a die maker for over thirty years and was a project inspector for the Ohio Department of Transportation for 12 years, retiring in 1995.

He was a life member of Presentation of our Lord Romanian Orthodox Church where he served as council president for 15 years. He was instrumental in the construction of the new church beginning in 1971 and ran the popular fish-fry and catering for six years.

Eugene leaves behind his lovely wife of 55 years, Tillie; daughter, Diane and her children, Lia, Carl J. and Alexandria Paladino; son, Gary and his wife Lisa and their children Ashley and Ryan; cousins, Bob Negrue and Bill Widican. Gene was preceded in death by his beloved son, Geno in 1987.
