Sarah Jane Faherty, daughter of Philip Faherty and Anne Walsh, was a native of Glencraff, County Galway, Ireland. Her birth was registered in Clifden on 4 May 1975. She married Patrick Maley on 17 Feb 1895 in County Galway. Sarah and her husband immigrated to the United States about 1897, settling initially in Hopewell, New Jersey. (Their oldest child Peter, also born in Glencraff, remained in Ireland with his maternal Faherty grandparents, not immigrating until 1906, at the age of ten.) By 1910, the family had moved to Trenton. Sarah was the mother of nine children who survived to adulthood. She died on 19 Jul 1941 in Trenton, and was interred in Saint Mary's Cemetery on 22 Jul 1941.
