In 1817 she was married to Lloyd Belt of Maryland (he moved to Waynesboro, Georgia in 1815), and they were the parents of three children: Williamina Belt, Lloyd Carlton Belt, and Richard Berrien Belt. Julia's husband Lloyd died in 1824 in Waynesboro.
In 1825 Julia was married to John Whitehead of Burke County, and they became parents of seven children: Caroline Harlow Whitehead, John Randolph Whitehead (m. Sarah E. Connelly), Julia Amanda Whitehead (m. John Gordon Howard), Philoclea Edgeworth Whitehead (m. Thomas William Neely), Charles Lowndes Whitehead (m. Sarah A. Whaley), Ruth Berrien Whitehead (m. Charles Colcock Jones, Jr.), and Valerie Burroughs Whitehead (m. Augustus Ramon Sales).
