Linda L. Reed 63, of Mechanicsburg, died Saturday, May 15, 2010, at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia, where she had been a patient for the past several weeks. She was born February 8, 1947 in Hagerstown, MD.
Linda was a graduate of Towson State University, Towson, MD, Class of 1969. She was employed over the years by Weis Markets, Mechanicsburg, St. Theresa's School, New Cumberland and later retired from PNC Bank, NA. She was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Mechanicsburg.
Mrs. Reed was a life-long student of history, an avid reader and collector. She was involved throughout her life in various charitable and philanthropic projects offering support and help to others. She found great joy in spending time with her family and in the planting and caring for her flowers, especially her prize roses.
Her beloved husband of 40 years, Samuel Ross Reed, Jr., their two daughters, Elizabeth M. Reed of Mechanicsburg, Carey Ross Reed of Tampa, FL, and a sister, Brenda De John of Ebensburg, PA, survive. A brother, Thomas Dubel, preceded her in death. Also left to cherish and celebrate her memory are her brothers and sisters- in law, several nieces and nephews and other close family members and friends, and her Labrador, Maggie.
Family and friends will be received at the Neill Funeral Home, 3401 Market Street, Camp Hill, PA, on Wednesday, May 19, 2010, from 6:00 to 8:00. Mass of the Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Simpson Ferry Road, Mechanicsburg, on Thursday, May 20, 2010, at 10:30. Burial will be at the Gates of Heaven Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: The Salvation Army, P.O. Box 2771, Harrisburg, PA 17105.
