Oliver Tripp
Oliver Tripp was born Sept. 8th, 1825 at Warrensburg, Warren County, N. Y., and died in Faribault, Minn., Sept. 16, 1887, having just passed the age of 62.
He was married at Neenah, Wis., Sept. 8, 1850, to Miss Hannah M. Gillette, who with three sons and one daughter, is left to mourn his departure.
He was one of the pioneer settlers in Minnesota, having located on East Prairie in 1854, where he made his home until the fall of 1880, when he removed to Faribault where he spent the last seven years of his life in well-earned rest.
He was converted and became a member of the Methodist Episcopal church in 1857, and for thirty years maintained a stainless Christian character, serving the church of his choice in various positions of trust for most of the time. His experience was marked by much positive-ness, and he was always ready, and that without ostentation, to testify of his faith.
His death was that of a good man, not in haste to go, but receiving the summons when it came, with joy and confidence. He was laid to rest in the cemetery at Prairieville.
