DROWNING CLAIMS THREE VICTIMS ON SUNDAY, AUGUST 3, 1947
NORTH BATTLEFORD NEWS OPTIMIST.

Three young women of the Baljennie district, Mrs. Mary Desjarlais, Miss Helen Neovard and Miss. Evelyn Neovard, drowned in the North Saskatchewan River near here, when one of the three sister was swept off her feet by the current into deeper water. The other two girls were drowned when they attempted to rescue their sister, also being swept away by the strong current. Their older brother Fred Neovard who was with them at the time, was unable to assist, as he could not swim. The young victims were not good swimmers, The bodies have not yet been recovered.
The three tragic deaths brought the warning from the R.C.M.P.officials here that those who do not now how to swim should stay away from dangerous place. The North Saskatchewan is a particularly treacherous stream, and it is not wise for even good swimmers to venture into it even if they know the surroundings well.

The three sister's are survived by their parents; George and Helene Neovard, three brothers; George Neovard, Fred Neovard and Victor Neovard of the Battleford distict, the three sisters are buried in the Battleford Cemetery, Battleford
