Jesse was married to Elvira M Ogden (no findagrave number, still looking for her) 23 Dec 1867, in Lyon Co. Kansas.
Emporia Journal 17 April 1880 p3, col 3, has obituary: Came to Kansas from North Carolina, one of the first settlers in Neosho Rapids, worked at blacksmithing. He was government blacksmith at Fort Scott and on his return seetled on a tract of land he improved and on which he died (4 miles nw of Emporia). Left widow and 5 children. Member of Masonic lodge, buried with those honors. (added comment: Fort Scott in Southeastern Kansas, NPS historic site).
