Obituary:
TRIPP-WHIPPLE: On last Sabbath our citizens were called upon to perform the last sad rites of Uncle Daniel Tripp, who died on Friday morning, the 17th inst., and also little Frankie Whipple, who died on the same day and almost the same hour. Both funerals were held at our schoolhouse at the same hour. The funeral services were conducted by the Rev. John Knight, in a sad and impressive manner, to the largest concourse of people ever assembled together on this prairie. The schoolhouse was filled to overflowing and there was about 100 people that could not get inside the building. The remains were taken outside the building and placed side by side, for the last view and as the multitude passed in viewing the young and the aged, there was not a dry eye in the audience. The remains were interred in the Wadena Cemetery, and were followed to their graves by the largest cortege that I have witnessed in Wadena county.
