West Columbia - A graveside service for Margie Bolin Johnson, 88, of West Columbia, was held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, 2009, in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 2999 Sunset Blvd., Ste. 102, West Columbia, SC 29169. Mrs. Johnson, widow of Colonel Charles F. Johnson, Sr., passed away on Friday, June 5, 2009. Born in Richland County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas J. Bolin and Margaret Blume Bolin. She was raised in Neeses, SC and was a longtime resident of West Columbia and a veteran of World War II, where she served as an Army nurse. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Judy Gowan (Tommy) of West Columbia; son and daughter-in-law, Ron Johnson (Debbie) of Lexington; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Lieutenant Charles F. Johnson, Jr., a West Point Graduate, killed in action in Vietnam. The family would like to express gratitude to the staff at Still Hopes and Harmony Hospice for their loving care. © The State, Columbia, SC, 10 Jun 2009
