He was born on June 2,1948 at Bismarck to David and Pearl (Bowers) Welk. He attended various primary schools in the United States, and attended high school in Beulah and Mandan. He married Diana Lang on June 23,1967 in Bismarck. Gerald was a Vietnam veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy and the National Guard.
He is survived by his former wife of Glendive, Mont., two sons, Jason and Jamie both of Beulah. His parents, Mr.
and Mrs. David Welk of Mandan, his paternal grandmother, Rose Welk of Beulah and one sister, Mrs. Alan (Jan) Abbey of Beulah.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Oct. 21, at the Beulah Congregational Church, with the Rev. Adolph Orman officiating. Interment was at the Beulah City Cemetery.
Pallbears were: Gary Bowers, Jeff Bowers, Richard Bowers, Kim Gutknecht, Kevin Gutknecht and Leslie Bornemann.
Erdman Funeral Home of Beulah was in charge of arrangements.
