Services for David J. Welk, 61 Route 5, Mandan, will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Buehler Funeral Home, Mandan, with the Rev. Paul Myers officiating and at 10:30 MDT Friday at Zion Lutheran Church, Beulah. Military graveside services will be held at Beulah Cemetery.

Mr. Welk died of a heart attack Tuesday in the Mandan hospital.

Visitation begins at 7:30 tonight at the funeral home and continues for one hour before services at the church.

He was born Oct. 1, 1923, at Zap. He grew up and attended school there and in Beulah. He entered the U.S. Army in 1943, served in England, Korea and Germany and retired from the service in 1964. He married Pearl Bowers, Oct. 1, 1947, in Beulah. The couple moved to Mandan in 1964 and he worked in Bismarck for the North Dakota Office of Management and Budget.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Allan (Janice) Abbey, Beulah; four grandchildren; his mother, Rose Welk, Beulah; one brother, Ervin, Chatsworth, Calif.; and one sister, Mrs. Gus Morlock, Beulah.
