Rachel E. Walters was born at Stahl, Adair County, Missouri, August 17th, 1858. She departed this life September 14, 1927, aged 69 years and 28 days, at the home of her son (step-son) Orville O. Sloan in Arnett, Ellis County,Oklahoma. Death was caused from paralysis.

At the age of 20 years (1878) she with her parents and thirty other families crossed the plains to Montana, where she was married to Josephus Kent September 25, 1879, who died July 25, 1880.

To this union was born a daughter (born about 1880-1881), who departed this life at age of 17 years (died about 1897-1898).

She returned to Missouri where she was married to John Wesley G. Sloan, June 16, 1883, to this union were born one son and five daughters. Her husband departed this life April 18, 1920.

The children left to mourn her death are, Perry Emmett Sloan of Lehigh, Montana; Mrs. Mary Davis, Lewiston, Idaho; Mrs. Anna Hunt, Buckner, Missouri; Mrs. Ada Buttram, Jane, Missouri; Mrs. Myrtle Holt, Arnett, Oklahoma and two step-sons, Orville O. Sloan, Arnett, Oklahoma and Elmer H. Sloan of Pampa, Texas. Interment was made in the Allmon Cemetery, Arnett, Oklahoma where she was laid beside her husband.
