Service: 10 a.m. Monday at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. OCEAN SPRINGS --- Hilda Mallett Deane, 80, died Thursday, March 13, 2003 in Ocean Springs.
Mrs. Deane was born in North Biloxi on May 9, 1922. She had been a resident of Ocean Springs for the past 40 years, after living the life of an Army officer's wife, taking her to many states and locations outside the United States. She was a member of Gulf Hills Garden Club, the As You Like It Club, and the Officer's Wives Club of Keesler Air Force Base. She was an active member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Ocean Springs.
She was preceded in death by three husbands, Wilfred Gilly (Major Retired), Charles B. Gross (D.D.S.) and Donald C. Deane (Navy Commander, Retired); her parents, Fred S. and Virda DeLancey Mallett; two brothers, Lamar Mallett and Frederick Mallett; two sisters, Thelma Crosby and Ione Everett.
Survivors include two sons, Gary A. Gilly and wife, Patricia of Jackson and Dale K. Gilly of Atlanta, Ga.; one daughter, Janis Riefsteck and husband, Chris of Louisville, Ky.; two sisters, Virda M. Davis of Vancleave and Patricia M. Neal of Mobile, Ala.; five brothers, Rufus Mallett of Ocean Springs, Presley "Doc" Mallett of D'Iberville, Harrell Mallett of Biloxi, David Mallet of Vancleave and Jerry Mallett of Gautier; four grandchildren, Paul Gilly of Austin, Texas, Michelle Crosby of Detroit, Mich., Vincent Montgomery of Berkley, Calif. and Kevin Lee Gilly of Greenville, N.C.; three great-grandchildren, Kristopher Gilly, Mitchell Gilly and Gabrielle Gilly, all of Austin Texas; three stepdaughters, Suzanne Booth of Jacksonville, Fla., Margaret Eisman of Potomac, Wash. and Nancy Deane of Columbia, Ga.; and seven step-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday with a Rosary at 7 p.m. at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home. Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, where friends may call from 9:30 to 10 a.m. Burial will be in Biloxi National Cemetery.
Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Ocean Springs is in charge of arrangements.
