Lucrecia "Luca" Cubilla, 89, of 1504 Jackson St., died at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, May 26, 2010, at home.

Services will be at noon Saturday, May 29, at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, with Deacon Jim Thill officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery Mausoleum, Key West, Iowa. Friends may call after 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

She was born on Sept. 27, 1920.

Lucrecia worked for USS Citizen in Canal Zones of Panama and the U.S. government, both during World War II.

She was a member of St. Mary's Parish of Panama.

Lucrecia enjoyed many things in life, especially dancing in her native dress.

Surviving are her daughters, Luzmila (Edward) Karwoski, of Dubuque, whom she resided with, and Elaides Cubilla-Gavilan, of Panama; nine grandchildren, Julia Zahina Zambrano, of Evertt, Wash., Guendolin Zambrano, of Dubuque, Mary Kay (Dennis) Leibold, of East Dubuque, Ill., Daisy Ann York, of Evertt, Bonnie (Jim) Piper, of Grayling, Mich., George (Melanie) Karwoski, of Toledo, Ohio, Larry (Lori) Karwoski, of Dubuque, Alexsander Gavilan and Cecilia Cubilla, both of Panama; 14 great-grandchildren; a stepgreat-granddaughter; and a great-great-granddaughter, Dani.

She was preceded in death by her parents, of the Republic of Panama; and a sister, of Panama.
