Mari Lundstuen Amundsdatter, (Amundson) the second of six children, was born June 18, 1859 to Amund Andreassen and Embjør Pedersdatter. Mari was born on her father's home farm of Engum under Kongslie (or under Taarud), in Nord-Fron, Oppland County, Norway. She was baptized in Nord-Fron July 17 1859, with baptismal sponsors Peder Gudbrandstuen, Erik Gudbrandstuen, Embjør Moen, Beret Moen, and Embjør Barrusten. By July 1864, the family lived at her mother's home farm of Gudbrandstuen under Kongslie, and between March 1871 and June 1872 they moved to Lundstuen under Kongsli. Mari was confirmed at the Sødorp Church in Nord-Fron 7 Jun 1874. (Early Norwegian church records transcribed by findagrave contributor Espa.) It was said Mari came to America between 1874 and 1881. Though, according to her filed Naturalization record, it states she arrived on or before June 15, 1878. She may have been called Mary or Marie In the USA. According to Hamar Lutheran Church records, Rothsay MN, Mari married Frederick F. Fosse on 3 December 1881 in Rothsay. HOWEVER, the Minnesota Marriage System, as well as the marriage license, (I have a copy) states the marriage date as October 3, 1881. Mari used the last name Amundson (vrs Amundsdatter) on the marriage license. Frederick and Mari had three children. All three raised families and lived around the Rothsay Area: Anton (Tillie Hilde), Carl (Sigrid Hagen), and Emma (Julius Balken). Following the death of Frederik, Mari married Ole H. Sundlie 17 Jan 1890. This marriage license is also filed in Otter Tail County. They had four children: Henry (1890-1950), Christine Hilde (1892-1969), Gunda Larson (1893-1945) and Oscar (1896-?) Mari died in 1899 and is buried next to her first husband, Frederick. Ole moved with his children to Harvey, North Dakota. Christine married and lived in the Rothsay area. Ole died in 1937. Some people have that Mari died November 1, 1899. Upon checking church records, she died October 28, 1899 and was buried on November 1, 1899.

It is believed that her son Oscar moved to Canada. He was never heard from again. Anyone with information on Oscar, please let me know.
