Mrs. Sturgis Dies Monday Morning; Rites Thursday
Mrs. H.S. Sturgis, 77, of 324 South Carnegie avenue, died at 9 a.m. Monday in the Carnegie hospital after an illness of 10 days. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in the First Christian church with Rev. Harry Hubbard, pastor, in charge. The Pitcher Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements, and burial will be in the Alden cemetery.
Ida May Babylon was born Oct. 31, 1871, at Leeton, Mo. She was married to James Carlton Woolf Dec. 24, 1890. They made their home in Post Oak, Mo., until March, 1902, when they moved to Oklahoma. In the opening of the new country they drew a farm nine miles south of Carnegie.
Mr. Woolf died May 9, 1915. Mrs. Woolf moved to Carnegie in 1918 where she lived until her death. She was married to H.S. Sturgis Nov. 15, 1935. Mr. Sturgis died March 23, 1948.
Survivors are a son, Ray Wolf of Carnegie, a daughter, Mrs. Elsie Hill, Little Rock, Ark; three sisters,rude Feeback, Belton, Mo.; Mrs. Ruby Patterson, Garden City, Mo., and Mrs. Minnie Dickerson, Dodge City, Kan., and three brothers, Joe and Lee Babylon, Harrisonville, Mo., and W.G. Babylon, Pleasant Hill, Mo. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Relatives from a distance who were here at the time of Mrs. Sturgis' death or who will come for the funeral include the Rev. Eulis Hill family from Little Rock, Marion Ray Woolf of Kilmarnock, Va.; Mr. and Mrs. Feeback, Mrs. Patterson, Mrs. Dickerson and Maurice Woolf and Mrs. Martha Woolf of San Bernardino, Calif.
