my 5x grandfather, he was one of twelve children, moved from La Prairie, Marshall Co, away from his huge family to Ford Co., elder sister Angus moved to IA, sister Drummond moved to ND, the rest of his siblings stayed in La Prairie, IL.

His family history:
Adam's parents: Thomas Burnett married Isabel PRINGLE (fa. Adam and mo. Margaret ((HENDERSON)) of Yarrow, Selkirk, Scotland, known as the Scottish borders), m. 1827, Adam was born on Gair Farm. most of their 12 children were born near Ettrick Scotland, south of Edinburgh. They immigrated to U.S. 1854 living first in Chicago, (why?) then settling in La Prairie, IL. The Pringle's of La Prairie are cousins via his mother.

Adam was born April 26, 1830 in the parrish of Ettrick, County Selkirk, Scotland and died at Loda, IL, October 8, 1909, Emigrated to America 1854 and settled in La Prairie, Marshall Co., IL, moved to Ford Co., IL 1872 where he has since Lived. Mr Burnett was married to Jane Irving in 1852, his wife died July 28, 1901, three children surviving the union: Thomas Burnett of Loda, Mrs McNeish of Chicago, Mrs Rainshaw of OH, He was one of twelve children, eight of whom survive, James, Robert, N.P., Isabella Agnes and Elizabeth, Mrs Scott of La Prairie and Miss Mary Drummund of Esmond, N.D., life-long Presbyterian, now member at Piper City...
and Betsy. Son, Robert, became prominent and has a biography written in Marshall Co

U.S., Civil War Draft Registrations Records, 1863-1865, Vol 1 of 5, lists Adam Burnett, Illinois 5th, under Capt James M Allan.

Isabelle would die 1873, Thomas would have son, James and his 4 children live with him after he is widowed as well as his single daughters, Isabella, Agnes, and Elizabeth "Betsy" , family will keep this farm until at least 1935. Both are buried United Presbyterian Cemetery in La Prairie, IL as are all their children except daughters Jean/Jane Angus who moved to IA (1872) and Mary Drummond who moved to N.D. (1884). Isabella and Wm are the only children born in the Highland country of Inverness, but this is one hour N.W. of Balmoral Castle.

Elizabeth Scott), m. by 1848 Loch broom, Rosshire, Scot., per the Angus children's obituaries, 11 children, first 5 born in Scotland (first 4 at Loch broom, and 1 at Kilmallie, Argyllshire, 1 Renfrewshire), John was a highland sheep farmer, immigrate between 1857 to 1858- live in La Prairie 1870 census until 1878 (per son Wm obit) then move to Mt Edna/ Victoria, Cass Co., IA near Nebraska border because their son Wm moves first 1869.

Adam Burnett, one of nine children, of Ettrick, County of Selkirk, Scotland, moved with his family to LaPrairie, Adams Co., IL in 1854, after his sister, Christiana, was born in Scotland. Adam would marry Jane Irving, 1852, in Scotland, and 1872 move to Ford Co., IL (rest of Burnett's stay in La Prairie) making their home in Roberts and have four children; Isabella "Bell", Thomas, Mary, Agnes.

Father and brother, James, must have emigrated first as mother and all children, except James, emigrated to America 10-14-1854 on ship Southampton sailing from Liverpool, England to New York (source NARA M237), moved first to Chicago, IL area until Davidson friends and his mother's Pringle brother must have influenced them to settled in La Prairie, Marshall county, IL.

He was one of twelve children, eight of whom survive him, James, Robert., N. P., Isabella, Agnes, Elizabeth, Mrs. Scott of LaPrairie, and Miss Mary Drummond of Esmond, N. D. He was a life long United Presbyterian, having at one time been a member of the church at La Prairie; at the time of his death a member of the church at Piper City... Co, He was laid to rest beside his wife in the Roberts cemetery.
