Lois was born in Canfield, Mahoning, OH about 1852. She was the daughter of Comfort Stuart and Cynthia Cordelia (Hine) Mygatt who, I believe, were also born in Canfield, OH. On her maternal side her grandfather was David Hine who was born in Milford, CT and her grandmother was Achsah Sackett of Warren, Litchfield, CT. On her paternal side her grandfather was Comfort Starr and her grandmother was Eleanor (Stewart) Mygatt. Both were born in Danbury, CT. Comfort was the son of Col Eli and Abigail (Starr) Mygatt. Col Eli was a veteran of the Revolution of some distinction. After the Revolution he represented his district in the state legislature for a number of years. He died in New Haven while on legislative business. Lois met John Fleming Wilcox, the brother of Lemuel North Wilcox, while working in Washington for the government as an auditor. Lois was a clerk at the US Patent Office. They were married in Washington, DC on 10 November 1881. They had one child, Lois Dorothy Wilcox, who was born in Pittsburgh on 11 January 1889. Lois never married. She was trained as an artist both in the US and aboard. She was part of the artist community that flourished in Tryon in the period of 1890-1920. She died in 1958. Her mother died 13 Jul 1925. I don't know the location of either of their deaths. The last location I found where they were together was in Orange NJ on the 1920 federal census.
