She was the eldest child of Robert Temple (1788-1870) and Mary Davis (1794-1854). She married Robert Cratty Jr. in Pa. in 1835 and moved to his home in Prospect, Ohio. Later in life they moved to Marion. They had three daughters: Elizabeth, Elinor, Isabella.
