Mrs. Bert Is Dead
Mrs. Bert Ray, who lived for many years at 923 Sylvan St., died Saturday in Compton, Calif.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Roberts-Blue-Barnett Chapel. They will be conducted by the Rev. W.A. Chambers, pastor of the St. James Baptist Church. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery.
Mrs. Ray was the former Stella Ruffkins, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ruffkins. She was born March 26th, 1881 in Emporia.Mrs. Ray was a member of St. James Baptist Church. she was preceded in death by her husband, who died in 1927.

The Ray Funeral
Funeral services for Mrs. Bert Ray, formerly of Emporia, who died Saturday in Compton, Calif., were held Wednesday afternoon in Roberts-Blue-Barnett Chapel. They were conducted by the Rev. W.A. Chambers, pastor of the St. James Baptist Church, and the Rev. B.W. Lowe. Members of the choir were Mesdames Harlan C. Woods, John Walls, Moris Dell, Urie Drake, Leo A. Turner, Martha Overstreet, Seymia Williams and Leugenia Andrews and Mr. and Mrs. Alonzo Walls. the organist was Mrs. Berryman Holt and the pallbearers were Claude W. and Moris E. Dell, Willard J. Mack, Leo A. Turner, Norman Evans and John Walls. Condolences were read by Mrs. John Walls. Burial was in Maplewood Cemetery.
