Sister Cordula was born the 3rd of 8 children to Michael & Caroline "Huck" Naeger.

Growing up she went by Irene Regina Naeger, but took the name of Cordula on her perpetual profession. Cordula was the first name of Irene's next younger sybling.

Many cousins of Sister Cordula also joined the Religious Life as a Sister or Priest.

Sister Cordula Naeger, ASC, 94, of the Adorers of the Blood of Christ Ruma Center, Ruma, Ill., born Sept. 18, 1909, in Zell, Mo., died Wednesday, May 26, 2004, at the community's center, Ruma, Ill.

Sister Cordula made her first vows as an Adorer of the Blood of Christ on July 2, 1929, and perpetual profession on July 1, 1934.

She was a domestic service worker in St. Rose, Ill., in 1929 and 1930; Chester, Ill., from 1930 to 1933; Prairie du Rocher, Ill., from 1939 to 1942; Oran, Mo., from 1953 to 1962; Festus, Mo., from 1964 to 1978 and other small towns. She ministered in these institutions: Cantian Seminary, St. Louis, Mo., in 1942 and 1943; St. Clement's Hospital, Red Bud, Ill., from 1945 to 1948; Loretto Home, Alton, Ill., 1948 to 1951; St. Ann's Home, Chester, Ill., 1962 to 1964; and the Ruma Center from 1952 to 1953 and from 1978 to 1979.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Caroline, nee Huck, Naeger; three sisters, Marie Miller, Cordula Huck and Victoria Donze; and three brothers, Edgar, Emil and Frederick.

Surviving are a sister, Ida Fagan; a brother, Arthur; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Friends may call at 7 p.m. Friday, May 28, 2004, at the Ruma Center Chapel, Ruma, Ill.

Funeral: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 29, 2004, at the Ruma Center Chapel, Ruma, Ill., with the Rev. Richard Weidert officiating and reflections by Sister Barbara Jean Franklin, ASC.
