Service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel, Gilbert. Burial will follow in Hollywood Cemetery, Gilbert.

Violet Cook

Born: August 8, 1937

Death: June 7, 2010

A sweet and loving child of God, Violet Cook, 72 of Gilbert, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and to join her loved ones waiting for her in heaven on Monday, June 7th, 2010, from Cornerstone Hospital of Huntington.

Born at War Eagle on August 8, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Issac and Rachael Cline Gravely.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Norris Cook; two sons: Danny Lilly and Oley Cook; and one grandson, Chad Edward Sammons.

Violet was a kind and loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was a homemaker and of the Protestant Faith. She loved helping others and spending time with her wonderful family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to love and cherish her memory and to carry on her legacy include her five daughters: Marsha Sammons of Gilbert, Regina Davis of Baisden, Rowina (Vent) Browning of Gilbert, Eloise Blankenship of Baisden, and Bertha (Charles) Cline of Baisden; her son, Rodney Cook of Gilbert; her sister, Selena (Richard) Young of Crum; her 12 grandchildren; her 16 great grandchildren; her sister care provider, Sonya Curry; her special friend, Mary Stevens; and a host of other dear family and friends.

Friends may gather with the family to celebrate Violet's life at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel in Gilbert on Wednesday, June 9th from 6 to 9 pm, with a service at 7 pm.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, June 10th at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Diamond Carter and the Rev. Lowell Smith officiating.

Burial will follow in the Hollywood Cemetery at Gilbert.

Violet will be carried to her final resting place by: Junior, Earl, and Bryan Lilly, Chris and Lionel Browning, and Frank Cook.

Honorary pallbearers are: Bobby and Travis Runyon, Vent Browning, Jim Goldie, Charles Cline, Rodney Cook, and Chris Sammons.
