Elderada "Ella" Thornton Carter Brosi was the daughter of Rev. William Edward ( and Susannah Chenowith Thornton, pioneers to Oregon from Missouri in 1865. They settled in Oak Creek, Douglas County, OR in 1868.

She married Lawson Hopson Carter in 1888. They had the following children: Anna Pearl (Strickland), Orville Taylor, Lulu (Jenny), William Homer "Doc", Lena "Polly" (Young), Lee "Johnny" and Olive "Ollie" Myrtle (Kogelschartz). They divorced.

She married William Sylvester Brosi on Dec 19, 1903 in Dillard, OR. They had the following child: Ivan Sylvester.
