"In March 1900, a church committee found that the Cranbury burial ground was in poor condition. Many stones were worn, broken or missing. The names of those unmarked graves were not known. Four headstones remained standing and a few lying on the ground with inscriptions unreadable. The four standing stones and possibly a few fallen stones were moved to Hightstown."
Mr. Perrine's headstone was one of the standing headstones and the inscription is listed below.

James was born 26 May 1731 in Perrineville, Monmouth Co., New Jersey and died 26 Mar 1811 in South Brunswick, Somerset Co., New Jersey.
