MRS. JERE MICKLEJOHN [Adrianne Harp] MOORE

MRS. JERE MOORE, FORMER SCHOOL SUPT. PASSES. Funeral services for Mrs. Jere M. Moore, 85, prominent Montezumian and former school superintendent of Macon County, were held at 4:30 pm thursday in the Montezuma Methodist Church. The Rev. Sam Douthit, pastor, and the Rev. C. G. Ward officiated and interment was in FELTON CEMETERY. Pallbearers - Not Copied. Mrs. Moore died at 8 pm Wednesday, November 4, at a local hospital following a lengthy illness. A native of Macon County, she was born in the Garden Valley District. Her parents were the late William Dixon and Mary Harp. She was the widow of Jere M. Moore, Montezuma attorney and judge. Adrianne Harp Moore attended Garden Valley and Oglethorpe schools, was graduated from Georgia State College for Women in 1899, and taught for many years in the county school system, principally mathematics and commerce subjects. She is credited with beginning the commercial department in the local schools. Elected in 1936, she was superintendent of Macon County schools for 12 years. She was past president of the Montezuma Woman's Club and Garden Club, and a member of the WSCS. A member of the Montezuma Methodist Church, she taught an adult Sunday School class for many years. She was also correspondent for many years for The Macon Telegraph and was the author of Pictures From The Past, written in her 80th year and privately published in 1963. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. T. B. Campbell of Montezuma; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Sidney L. Moore, Sr. of Montezuma; nine grandchildren, Mrs. Alpha M. Bond of Macon, Mrs. J. Carroll Simms of Nacogdoches, Texas, Mrs. C. A. Perkins of East Orange, N. J., Sidney L. Moore of Macon, Barton, William, Mary Ann and Martha Campbell of Montrezuma, and Mrs. Bob Bapworth of Elko, Nev.; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. C. J. Harp, Sr. and Mrs. W. D. Harp, of Garden Valley; and nine great-grandchildren.
