Janelle Herrera, age 16, died after a battle with Acute Lymphatic Leukemia. A quiet, thoughtful girl with a deep well of faith in God and in her own resilience, she preferred to believe that she would get the best of the cancer that had besieged her body - and not the other way around. She wanted to be a teacher and was taking the high school classes that would ensure her college admission. She hoped to get more involved in the theater program at Orange Lutheran High School. But it just wasn't to be for Janelle. The gentle girl with a ready smile died Jan. 25 at Children's Hospital of Orange County.
