Susana was more than 90 years of age at the time of her demise. She was born September 10, 1843 in Valt Bradimus, Luxembourg. Her maiden name was Susana Redlinger. When she was 10 years of age she came directly to Holy Cross and settled on a farm with her parents and siblings. In the spring of 1861 she was united in marrigage to John Offermann at Luxemburg. They settled on a farm in Liberty township were she remained until old age forced retirement. Her husband preceded her in death in 1878. Susana was a devout Christian woman, a staunch Catholic all her life and was well known to many Dubuque county residents. She appeared to be in fairly good health, until recently when complications due to old age set in and claimed her in death. A large crowd was present at the funeral services in attestation of the high esteem in which she was held by her relatives and friends.
She is survived by five children: John of Alta Vista, Henry of Remsen, Katie of Milwaukee, Mary (Christoper Klein) of Milwaukee, and Elizabeth (Eugene Shaw) of Milwaukee. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five children including Nicholas Offermann of Worthington.
