Johann (John) Offermann, unknown when he came to the United States as is information on his parents and siblings. He was united in marriage to Susana Redlinger in 1861 in Luxemburg, Iowa and they farmed in Liberty township until is death on October 24, 1878. His death came as a result of a well digging accident. He was buried at Holy Trinity cemetery in Luxemburg. His wife and children survive: Nicholas, John, Mary, Henry, Susanna, Catherine and Elizabeth.

He is believed to have at least one brother (Mathais) who lived in the Fairbault, Minnesota area. The names of his parents and other siblings are a mystery. The name Offermann in it's original form had to (n's). Many relatives dropped the second(n)even among members of the same family.
