On March 3, 1944, the Sonora newspaper, Union Democrat, published the following: Bobby Bhend of the U. S. Army, left Monday for Louisiana after visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. Filiberti. Bobby was formerly stationed in North Carolina.

Emilio Filiberti passed away at his home in Columbia State Park on an early Sunday morning after a five year struggle with failing health. He was 58.

A 36 year resident of the United States, Mr. Filiberti was born in Italy. Once he came to the United States, he spent most of his time in Columbia where he had many friends and a brother.

Among his survivors were his widow, Mrs. Margaret Filiberti of Columbia; his mother, Mrs. Angela Filiberti, of Italy; three sisters: Mrs. Jacob Leinhardt, of New Jersey, Mrs. Anthony Longenotti and Mrs. Louis Mariani, both of New York City; two brothers, Victor Filiberti, of Columbia, and Louis Filiberti, of Italy.

Also surviving Emilio were two step-children: Mrs. Helen Reed, of Hollister, and Robert Bhend, of Sacramento: two nieces: Mrs. Angelina Hesse, of Columbia, and Mrs. Marie Panero of Sonora; and a nephew, Victor Filiberti of Rodeo.

Funeral services were held on a Tuesday afternoon from the Terzich Funeral Home with the Reverend E. S. Bickford, of Shaws Flat, officiating.

Interment followed in the Columbia City Cemetery.
