Mrs. Martin M. Allman, a resident of Hillsboro since the Civil War, one of the best known settlers of the community died suddenly at 11:15 o'clock Monday night at the family residence on East School street.
Mrs. Allman whose maiden name was Laura Ellen House, was born Mar, 22, 1842 and marries to Mr. Allman on 11-22-1868. The removed from Mt. Pleasant NC to Hillsboro a few months later. Here, MR Allman worked as a blacksmith and is now, employed as a fireman at the BIg Four round house.
Besides Mr. Allman, nine children, seven of whom live in Hillsboro, 11 grandchildren and 3 half sisters survive the deceased.
The children are, Mrs. Arthur Ludwick, Mrs. Jesse Sharp of St. Louis, Mrs. Joe Trelik, Mrs. Mat Lawson, Mrs. Robert Root, Tom, Edward, Guy and Roy Allman. Grandchildren are Harold, Ralph, Henry, Edith, Faye, Car, Leon, and Margery Allman; Camilla Sharp, Don & Johnny Trelik. Two brothers died a few years previous. Services were held at the home on Thursday, with interment in Oak Grove cemetery.
