HENRY BRAUN, AN EARLY DAY GERMAN IMMIGRANT PASSES AWAY.
For forty five years a prominent farmer of Adams Township and always conspicuous in citizenship activity. Henry Braun, one of the earliest pioneer settlers of Allen County and well known for his progressive spirit for the betterment of his community, passed away quietly at 5 o'clock Tuesday morning at the family residence in Adams Township. He was 74 years of age and although he had enjoyed good health in his long years of activity as a progressive farmer, he had, in recent month, suffered from a complicated disorder. The wife and a large family of children survive him.

Born in Blasbach, Germany, in the fall of 1933, he was brought to America by his parents at the age of four, the family first locating in Pennsylvania. Nearly 68 years ago, they moved to Allen County, Indiana, and established themselves on a farm in Marion Township, where the decedent and his brothers and sisters helped their parents to eke out a living in what was then very much a wilderness. For twelve years, the Braun family lived in Marion Township and 45 years ago, the farm in Adams Township was secured, on which the decedent had lived ever since.

The surviving children are: Mrs Minnie Doctor of this City, Henry Braun of Madison Township, Mrs Lizzie Hour of South Whitley, IN, William Braun Paulding, Ohio, Mrs Katherine Weihert of this city, Mrs. Nettie Osterhouse Adams Township, John Braun of this city, Louis, George, Carl and Anton Braun, living on the homeplace. There are also two brothers William and John Braun and two sisters Mrs Fred Scherer and Mrs Louis Bender, all of this city, with 18 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

The funeral will be held Saturday morning at 10 o'clock from the residence and at 11 o'clock from the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Adams Township, of which congregation he was an active member. The Rev Schoche will officiate. Journal Gazette March 27, 1907
