DOROTHY ALMASON (nee Nauracy) "Dort" East Chicago, Indiana Dorothy Almason, age 80, passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2009.

She was the beloved and devoted wife of her loving husband, George, which whom she celebrated 58 years of marriage this past May. The loving mother of daughters, Nancy Almason of East Chicago, and Marybeth Lopez of Munster; cherished grandmother of the loves of her life, grandsons, Brandon and Collin Lopez; also survived by brothers, Robert Nauracy, and Joseph Nauracy; sisters, Florence O'Neal, and Joan Kovacik; and sister-in-law, Marie (late Raymond) Krajewski; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Preceded in death by daughter, Rose Marie; parents, John and Mary Nauracy; sisters, Rose Scibor, and Emily Nauracy; and brother, John Nauracy.

Funeral Services were held Wednesday, July 1st, at the Fife Funeral Home, 4201 Indianapolis Blvd., East Chicago, Indiana, 46312. Mass at St. Stanislaus Church in East Chicago, with Msgr. John Siekierski officiating.

Entombment at St. John's Cemetery in Hammond.

Dorothy was born on July 15, 1928, and was a lifelong resident of East Chicago, Indiana.

She was a graduate of Catholic Central (Bishop Noll), Class of 1946; and the Bryan & Stratton Business College in Chicago. She worked at Navy Pier in Chicago, after WWII for War Assets. She was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Msgr. Connelly Council #1700; and St. Stanislaus Church in East Chicago, and a contributor to several charities, too numerous to mention.

The angels came down to take Dorothy to God in Heaven on this day, but her spirit will be present in the lives of her family each and everyday. She leaves them with broken hearts and an empty space never to be replaced with the deep love she expressed for her family.

She will sadly be missed, by all whose lives she touched.
