Died, at the home of her son, Ephriam Sutton, Jan. 12th, 1897, Mrs. Margery Sutton, aged 75 years, 5 months and 10 days.
Deceased was the daughter of the late Ephriam Burdick and was born in this town Sept. 2d, 1821. February 19, 1846, she was united in wedlock with the late Merritt Sutton, who died June 25th, 1896. The result of their union was the birth of eight children, four of whom are living, three in this town and one near Wells Bridge. When about 18 years of age, she experienced conversion in a Methodist revival and has ever since lived a consistent Christian life, although she never united with any church, ever ready to aid those in affliction and contribute to the relief of the suffering. For the past 23 years she has resided with her late husband on Briar Creek, just in the town of Butternuts, where she was held in high esteem by her many friends. Since the death of her husband she has been visiting among her sons and had been sick but a few weeks previous to her death, which resulted from heart disease and was unexpected. She bore her affliction with much patience and appeared ready and willing to obey the summons of her Master.
Besides her four sons she is survived by a brother, Henry Burdick, of Morris, who have the sympathy of many friends in their affliction. The funeral was held from the home of her son Ephriam Thursday afternoon, Rev. J. H. Lattell officiating, and the remains were interred in the Flax Island cemetery, undertaker Bailey having charge of the funeral.
