Daughter of Hampton Long and his wife, Margaret W. Keys. Elizabeth's father died when she was 10 months of age. Her mother remarried in 1837 to David Storks, and they moved to Iowa about 1856.

Elizabeth married Nelson Baker on 14 December 1852 in Mount Sterling, Madison County, Ohio. They were the parents of 5 children, two of whom probably died as infants. Her children included Charles, Edith, and Luella.

Elizabeth died of accidental burns. She was preceded in death by her husband, and daughter, Mrs. Luella Baker Cartzdafner.
