Mrs. Elizabeth Hartmann, 88, a former resident of the town of New Holstein, died Wednesday morning, December 19, at Willowdale Nursing Home, New Holstein, where she had resided the past month.
The former Elizabeth Dorn, she was born April 2, 1896, in Marytown, a daughter of the late Erhard and Catherine Uerling Dorn.
She attended St. Mary Catholic School, Marytown.
On August 24, 1920, she and Edward Hartmann were married at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel.
They farmed in the town of New Holstein. Mr. Hartmann died in 1945.
Mrs. Hartmann was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church, St. Anna and its Christian Mothers Society.
Surviving are five daughters,
Sister M. Monica of Mission of Mary, N.M.,
Sister M. John of Sisters of Mary, Manitowoc,
Sister M. Edward of the Benedictine Sisters of Clyde, Missouri,
Sister M. Theresa of Lady of Charity, Green Bay, and
Mrs. Gervase (Anne) Meyer of Chilton; eight sons,
Herman and
George, both or rural New Holstein,
Frank of New Holstein,
Al C. and
Edward, both of Kiel,
Frederick of Kohler,
Adam of Menomonee Falls and
Hugo, of rural Kiel;
23 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren; one brother, the Rev. Frederick Dorn of St. Nazianz; and two sisters, Sister Margaret of St. Louis, Missouri, and Sister Seraphia of Clyde, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by six brother and two sisters.
A concelebrated funeral Mass was held at St. Anne Catholic Church, St. Anna, with the Revs. Jim Bretl, pastor and Frederick Dorn and Milton Suess, celebrants. Burial was in the church cemetery.
