Richard is listed by the DAR as a Revolutionary War patriot, however, the DAR does not list a wife. While no specific evidence has been cited, some family trees continue to list two wives: (1st) a Mary Harris, believed to be the daughter of a Maj. West Harris Sr.; and (2nd) a Sarah Lentz. The date and place of death &/or burial of Richard's wife or wives remains unknown.
*NOTE: The headstone for Richard appears to have been erected many years after his death, possibly by the local DAR chapter.
This Richard Parker is believed to be the son of Drury (Drewry) Parker of Surry & Southampton counties, VA, and his first wife, Elizabeth Barham. Drury's LWT (dated 13 June 1783, proved 12 Feb 1789, Southampton Co, VA) names, among others, sons Richard and Howell.
In his unrecorded will, dated 6 May 1830, Richard Parker of Rowan Co, NC, "Being weak in body but of Perfect mind and memory," named the following legatees:
Son Barham Parker
Son James Parker
Son Drury Parker
Son Richard Parker
