Emily Reed Jones, 87, of Oneida, Tenn., died October 14, 1997, at the Scott County Hospital. Born in Scott County, Tenn., August 22, 1910, she was the daughter of the late C.C. and Rhoda Ann Phillips Reed. In addition to her parents, she was preceded also in death by her husband, Arthur Jones; one infant son; one son-in-law, Hugh Massey; four sisters: Geneva Reed, Annie Reed, Beulah Rosser, and Alta Presley; and one brother, Oscar Reed. She was a member of Hazel Valley United Baptist Church. She is survived by two daughters: Maxine Kidd and husband, Hollins of Oneida, and Phyllis Massey of Jacksboro; two sons, Royce Jones and Hollan Jones, both of Oneida; one brother, Hollis Reed of Burrville, Tenn.; three sisters: Pearlie Douglas of Oneida, Arizona Elliott of Lakeland, Fla., and Wilda Troxell of Canyonville, Ore.; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Funeral services were conducted October 16, 1997, in the chapel of Jones and Son Funeral Home with Reverends Ethan Thomas and Herman Hatfield officiating. Music was provided by The Duncan Family.
